4 Ways to Eat a Healthier Breakfast

Are you eating the right kind of breakfast?

A cup of coffee in the morning just isn’t going to cut it

anymore. Research has shown that breakfast can help you lose weight and

skipping it may be bad for your heart. It can be tempting to stop by a fast

food restaurant and grab something on your way to work, but it’s not the most

nutritional option. We’re here to help; below, we have listed 4 things you can

do to make your breakfast healthier.

1. Add Fiber

Fiber helps you stay full for longer than other options

that have too many carbs. Eating foods with fiber also help regulate the levels

of sugar in check. Fiber is found in fresh fruits, vegetables, nuts, and whole

grain foods. There are many benefits when consuming fiber especially for your

health! In the morning have a bowl of oatmeal with blueberries for a

heart-healthy, fiber-packed breakfast.

2. Make a Smoothie

With the busy life you have, you might not have time to

sit down and eat your breakfast. Instead, grab some of your favorite fruits and

mix them into a blender. This will be a good way to nourish your body of all

the essential nutrients you need to start your day. Remember that if you use

oranges you will get vitamin C, which helps with the production of collagen.

Try making a smoothie, and take it with you to go!

3. Eat Early in the Day

Having breakfast at 10AM when you’ve been up since 6AM is

not going to provide you with the fuel and energy you need. Drink a glass of

water as soon as you wake up so your body can rehydrate and then start feeding

your body with the nutrients it needs for a productive day. Eating after you

wake up will give your body the energy it needs for the day. Try to eat your

breakfast within an hour of waking up so that it can do its’ job efficiently.

4. Don’t Forget Protein!

Protein can give you the boost of energy that you need in

the mornings. Eating protein in the mornings will give you alertness. Also,

having a good amount of protein in the morning will help you stay full longer

and energized. Research shows that those who ate breakfast in the morning were

more productive throughout the day. Munch on some egg white omelets with black

beans to get your morning fill of protein and fiber.

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and

eating a healthy, filling breakfast will have you energized and ready to take

on the day!
